On Overcoming Obstacles with EFAC Alumna Everlyne

Evelyne Muthoni

Everlyne joined EFAC in 2015 and attended Naivasha Girls School. She recently graduated from Cooperative University College of Kenya with a diploma in Public Relations.

“EFAC has been a life-changing experience for me. I can’t really compare the person that I am now to the person I was 7 years ago. Probably I would not have accessed my secondary and college education and EFAC made that possible for me. I’m really grateful because, unlike other scholarship programs, EFAC scholars are exposed to different important circumstances and training experience through workshops which also create a strong bond through socialization among students from different schools.

We don’t lack challenges in life do not lack and unless we overcome them it will be a waste of the gathering year. Some of the challenges I have encountered in my journey are procrastination, time management, feeling inferior and unable to perform a task and having a strong conviction about something that leads to inflexibility and unteachable nature. Through EFAC I have managed to overcome the challenges and I have learnt to be proactive and intentional about my personal growth, seek for help in order to complete a given task, to do things unafraid and always make good use of the available opportunities.

I am enthusiastic about communication and its power to transform lives. Communication has the power to create, change and build. I believe that communication is one of the most important tangible assets that we have as human beings and it all depends on how we use it. I listen and pay attention to details because I believe small things make huge differences in life.

My dream is to run big grocery stores across the country and also have my own company that deals with events planning and management. For this to be successful, there are steps to be taken and also gathering of knowledge necessary to run the business through experience and also courses to acquire the required skills.”
