EFAC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

EFAC graduates’ stories are inspiring. Their families are forever changed and their communities are emboldened by the rise of one of their own. Over 89% of alumni are employed or continuing education. 65% are already supporting the education of a sibling or family member. The success of our alumni demonstrates the power of education to place a child squarely on the path from poverty to prosperity, and the ripple effect this can have on a family, community and nation.

YIAMOI’S STORY - FROM EFAC TO GIVING BACK

When it comes to giving back, Yiamoi goes above and beyond. She was born into a large family and despite significant cultural opposition to girls’ education, she was able to attend high school and college with an EFAC scholarship. Fueled by her experience, Yiamoi is creating opportunity for hundreds of vulnerable children. She and her husband opened a school in the Maasai village where she grew up. She is earning a Masters in Public Health, with plans to open a medical clinic. Yiamoi also manages an organization that rescues young Maasai girls from early marriage and female circumcision.

joyce’s story - EFAC is family

EFAC is a family. Coming together from across Kenya, attending boarding schools in different parts of Kenya, and going on the EFAC Wezesha Journey bonds EFAC Scholars. They support each other and look out for each other.

Joyce understands the meaning of the EFAC family better than most. When she lost her husband in a tragic accident, her EFAC peers were the first to come visit her and her 3 young children. “To me, EFAC is not just an organization that has helped me. It is my family. It is my home.”
