EFAC Scholars: Changemaker Edition 2020

Branice Yiamoi Karia is an EFAC Alumna and graduate of Maseno University. In addition to her work in the medical field, she is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Mara Valley School. Creating this school fulfulls her desire to provide education to her community.

Philip Mburu is a 19-year-old EFAC Scholar, fitting the description of “creative and brave.” He has developed an automated hand-washing machine, with the help of Usafi Innovations Project, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases.

Hereniah Ndiege is a 14-year-old EFAC Scholar, instrumental in shaping her community. After realizing girls were skipping school due to lack of sanitary towels, she took it upon herself to address this need. She secured donated items and distributed them to local schools.

Braise Mwangi took advantage of the lockdown during COVID to engage his cabbage farming in his home town in Nyeri. His initiative provided food and extra income for his family.
